Co-Sponsorship Application

The purpose of the Funding at Columbia University (F@CU or FaCU) is to facilitate, support, and enrich student development in the form of student activities of campus. FaCU strives to support student development on campus, through fair and transparent allocation of the Student Activities Fee, based upon the needs of each student group. In addition to receiving funding from their respective Governing Boards, student groups are encouraged to reach out to the Councils for extra support as they plan school events.

As a student group, you can use this form to request funding from the Columbia College Student Council (CCSC), Engineering Student Council (ESC), General Studies Student Council (GSSC), and the Student Government Association of Barnard College (SGA). However, you should only request funding from a Council if the respective body it governs is included in, or affected by, the event you are holding.

Please adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Request for funding from the Councils must come after you have requested extra funding from your Governing Board.
  2. In order to ensure that funds granted as co-sponsorship from the Councils are transferred to the appropriate account in a timely manner, please submit co-sponsorship applications at least three weeks prior to the event for which council sponsorship is being requested.
  3. In any given week, applications guaranteed to be considered at the Councils’ next Co-sponsorship Committee meetings must be submitted by Thursday night at midnight.
  4. Please be prepared to present to each co-sponsorship committee at the respective meetings following your submission date (see calendar below for meeting schedule). Any supporting documentation, e.g. quotes, receipts, etc., should be presented at the meetings as well. The specific times will be coordinated after your complete application is received.
  5. This co-sponsorship application is meant as a guide for the kind of information that must be submitted in a complete application. It is entirely acceptable to submit event and budget forms in a different format as long as they provide more detail, and include all the information required by this form.
  6. The budget of each of the student councils is determined based upon student enrollment. As such, when requesting co-sponsorship from multiple councils, try to follow the following ratio: 3 : 2 : 1 : 0.7, for CCSC, SGA, ESC, and GSSC, respectively. For example, when requesting co-sponsorship from all four councils, the total amount should be distributed as follows: $670 total co-sponsorship request, CCSC - $300, SGA - $200, ESC - $100, GSSC - $70.
